Let’s be honest, Linkin Park hasn’t released anything good since ‘Meteora.’  I’ll give them the stuff they did for the Transformers movie (looking past the fact that they used what sounds like the same song twice for Transformers 1 & 2).  But even then, they had huge transforming robots behind them!  You could fart over a polka track & it would sound awesome during an Optimus Prime/ Megatron battle.  But, I’m getting off subject…

Many different musicians’ cover song of choice lately is Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.”  Chester killed it!  Here’s evidence:

To make matters worse, he did it during a squealing rendition of Jimi’s Purple Haze.  Here’s the video of it…if you want to skip past the “Hey everybody, in case you forgot, I’m gay!!” kiss to his guitarist, the puffing of the magic dragon starts at 1:50….and by puffing of the magic dragon, I mean smoking of the ganja, not…any other puffing …of any sort.  Close, though.

Artist makes song.  Song has exceptional success.  Washed up arist comes along and claims that successful song is ripped off from them even though first song may not have been quite as successful.

The latest episode consists of Lady Antebellum ripping off Alan Parsons’ chart-buster “Eye in the Sky.”  I use the term “chart-buster” loosely as Parsons’ song peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #3.

The song in question “Need You Now.”  Which, by the way, topped the Billboard Country chart, Adult Contemporary chart & Adult Pop chart at #1.  Not to mention coming in at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 & the Billboard Pop chart…among winning countless other awards and high chart positions.

Lisa Marie Parsons, the apparent personal assistant to Alan Parsons, wrote a letter to the editor of Nashville Scene claiming the song was ripped off.  There’s even a video mash-up to prove it:

Now, while I’m quite proud of Lady A’s success as they are from my hometown, I’m definitely not a fan of their music.  Do the songs sound similar?   Sure, the hooks do.  The rest of the song?  Not so much.  Did they rip off the song? Doubtful.  Should Parsons seek royalties anyway?  Of course!   After all, this IS America, and that is the American way.

Tom told the New York Post “Look, I’m not being egotistical, but ‘Magnum is in about 100 countries.  They can’t just buy a title and stick some younger guy in it.  These things are quite real to audiences.”

…Then he got in his ’82 Ferarri and drove the f*ck off!

According to British paper “The Daily Mirror,” Gaga didn’t find it very funny and said that Eva needs to “stop stealing” her ideas.

For the record:  Eva wore it better.

I still remember leaving a Nine Inch Nails concert in Corpus Christi, Texas and being given a ticket to a Hinder concert because they couldn’t find anyone dumb enough to pay to see that band.

Kanye was obviously upset and tweeted: “In the 70s album covers had actual nudity… It’s so funny that people forget that… Everything has been so commercialized now.”  He also used Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album cover as proof to his argument adding that he couldn’t believe his painting wasn’t acceptable.
